What Happens During a Discovery Flight?

YOUR FIRST LOOK AT WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BECOME A PILOT

calendar_clock

A Discovery Flight is an introductory flight experience with a flight instructor designed to give you a firsthand look at flight training.

Before getting into the airplane, you'll meet your instructor, talk about what brought you to aviation, and receive an introduction to the aircraft and basic controls.

This is also your opportunity to ask questions about flight training, aircraft, costs, scheduling, or aviation careers.

Will I Actually Get to Fly?

Under the guidance of your instructor, you'll get an introduction to what controlling an aircraft feels like.

For many people, that's the moment they remember most.

Something that may have seemed complicated or out of reach suddenly becomes real. Your instructor remains there throughout the experience to guide you, explain what's happening, and make sure you never feel expected to know something you haven't been taught.

What If I'm Nervous?

Tell your instructor.

Being nervous about doing something completely new is understandable. Good flight instruction starts with communication, and your instructor can explain what to expect throughout the experience.

There's no expectation that you arrive already feeling like a pilot.

What Happens Afterward?

Maybe you land knowing immediately that you want to continue training. Maybe you leave with more questions.

Either is completely fine.

Your next step could be beginning Private Pilot training at a flexible pace or exploring an accelerated path toward a professional aviation career.

A Discovery Flight isn't a commitment to flight school. It's an opportunity to find out whether flying could be part of your future.

At Zephyr Aviation in Zephyrhills, our Discovery Flights are designed to make that first step approachable, informative, and memorable.

Sometimes the best way to find out where aviation can take you is simply to get in the airplane.
